Flat-valgus flat feet in children

Flat-valgus flat feet in children

Solovyova Marina Viktorovna
I will be glad to hear from you
It is important to understand that from birth a child has a flat foot (this is normal), but by the age of five the arch of the foot is completely formed and flat feet disappear.
At first, the valgus appears, later, if the violation is not corrected, flat-valgus flat feet appear.
Hallux valgus is an axial deviation of the bones with the formation of an angle that is open to the outside. That is, the curvature of the lower limbs to the inner side.
The shape of the foot changes: the axes are shifted, the heel is turned outward, the inner surface of the foot is turned inward, the toes are deformed. With tightly compressed knees, the distance between the ankles = 4-5 cm.
The fault of this violation is in the excessive load on the feet due to various reasons, the weak ligamentous apparatus of the ankle joints.
Possible reasons:
1. Violations of tone, paresis, cerebral palsy.
2. Development disorders of the lower extremities in the prenatal period; early verticalization.
3. Dysplasia of the hip joint, connective tissue.
4. Endocrine diseases.
5. Metabolic disorders.
6. Consequence of violations of posture (always associated with the feet).
7. Incorrectly fitted shoes.
Signs of a violation:
1. Gait: unsteady, shuffling, side-to-side passes.
2. Permanently spread toes.
3. It is impossible to put the heels together.
4. Legs are X-shaped.
5. Calluses and corns.
6. Pain in the feet, knees, hips, back.

It is very important, when building the training process for children with flat-valgus flat feet, to take into account a number of restrictions when choosing exercises and choose a physical activity that is safe for the child.
Prohibited exercises:
1. High jumping load, trampoline.
2. Running, athletics, football, acrobatics.
3. Scooter, balance bike, skateboard.
Permitted Exercises:
1. Walking on toes (exception - if the child has a pathological disorder in the form of walking on toes), walking on the outside of the foot, on orthopedic rugs, a narrow path.
2. Cycling, climbing.
3. Grabbing objects with toes and two legs (different options for starting positions: sitting on the floor, on a chair, standing).
4. Rolling out sticks, ball with feet.
5. Complicated types of these exercises and others.

Exercises are selected and adapted individually for each child. When choosing exercises for the correction of flat feet, it is necessary to consult an orthopedic surgeon, exercise therapy doctor.
