How to choose a new coach?

Solovyova Marina Viktorovna
I will be glad to hear from you
Choosing a new coach for a child with mental disabilities is always a moment of experience for his entire family.
Parents can be scared which specialist will work with their child in a particularly dangerous area of physical education. And they may not worry in vain, because exercise is dangerous. From them you can get both a lot of benefits and exactly the same amount of harm and aggravate the child's condition.

A few key points for parents on how to understand if a quality correction is happening for your child in the gym:
At the beginning of work there should be:
1. Conducting a survey of parents (everything about the child, about you, medical history, medical contraindications, etc.).
2. Diagnostics of the child (assessment of gross motor skills, minimum).
3. Discussion of the diagnostic results with you and further construction of the program.
4. With all this, the goal of the training should be to improve the quality of life of the child and the family, that is, the coach must understand the relationship between the AFC and everyday skills.

What to ask the coach during training?
Ask simple questions, feel free to:
1. "What is this exercise called?"
2. "Why do this exercise?"
3. "What does this exercise develop?"
4. "For which muscles is the exercise?"
5. "How much exercise should my child do?"
6. "What should we do at home?"

The coach must answer these questions, since this is the basis of adaptive training, without clearly structured answers to these questions, a training program, exercise chains and their choice cannot be built.
Feel free to ask, you have every right to know what is being done in class with your child. Especially if you are ready to become a coach for your child and do it yourself at home.

A few more recommendations:
It is recommended to train at least twice a week, systematically, practicing the skills formed in the gym at home.
Sensory integration sessions + ROS + pool will be very helpful.
All directions are selected as needed individually for each child.
Be careful, feel your child, listen to your heart and do not ignore communication with specialists.
