Safety in physical education classes with children with ASD is not only "not to break something to the child", but the concept goes much wider and deeper. Children with autism are much more sensitive not only mentally, but also physically.
The main principle of training both children and high-class athletes - DO no HARM!
Imagine a child (especially a non-verbal one) who can't explain his condition and say "where it hurts" and can't jump. And the rules of training say-first of all, we develop a lagging skill. And we immediately start jumping, jumping, jumping. At the same time, for example, the child screams and refuses, but we still force - we have to do everything here!
Ask yourself, why doesn't the child jump? Maybe the cry is not just" I don't want to", but a cry for help and the child thereby saves himself, because his body is simply not ready?
We should approach jumps prepared (as well as all other exercises). Have to be developed in the abdominals, back, legs, strengthened ligaments, joints, stable spine, you must be able to navigate in space and to feel your body, and remember to account for extra weight or, on the contrary, muscular dystonia, as well as to take into account medical contraindications.
Therefore, be sensitive and feel the child's condition and level of physical fitness.
We start with leading exercises - passive (massage, stretching, imitation of a jump, flexion/extension of the legs lying down), then active, walking, stepping, walking, jumping, General strengthening exercises for the development of all muscle groups. And then-jump!
Imagine-you haven't played sports for a year and decided to immediately do 20 burpees or squats with a barbell. What will you get? ❗️ ...Before you give your child a task, put yourself in his place and feel the load and condition. Jumping is only a small part where you can easily aggravate the instability of the body and harm it.
Practice carefully and do not rush for records!
