Coordination abilities
Coordination abilities
Solovyova Marina Viktorovna
I will be glad to hear from you
Physical qualities are always difficult to train correctly, but it is extremely necessary. In this article, we will deal with a large and complex block of coordination abilities.

Coordination abilities (CS) are the capabilities of an individual that determine their readiness for optimal control and regulation of motor action. (V. I. Lyakh)

COP is not about coordination or dexterity (it's easy to get confused). They include a wide range of components, each of which has difficulties for children with ASD:

1. Ability to orientate in space, balance, rhythm;

2. The ability to reproduce, differentiate, evaluate and measure the spatial, temporal and power parameters of movements;

3. The ability to react, the speed of the restructuring of motor activity;

4. Ability to coordinate movements, voluntary muscle tension and statokinetic stability.

  • When to train CS?
    The most favorable age for the development of CS is from 6 to 12 years, but with children with ASD, we are engaged in the development of CS at every training session at any age, as this is the most deficient skill in our children.
  • How to train CS?
    Let's recall the main structure of the brain responsible for our coordination unit-the cerebellum

    To train it, we need exercises with varying difficulty, counting the variation:

    1. Starting and ending positions, spatial boundaries of the exercise;

    2. Speed, directions, and tasks of movement;

    3. Limitations of visual control when performing the exercise (with closed eyes);

    4. Combination of movements and mirror execution;

    5. Weights and heights of inventory, etc.
It is important to consistently and systematically teach children new skills in walking and running, jumping, throwing, climbing and crawling, and in adapted outdoor games, and analyze what you are training and why.
